Jim McClendon began his professional career in 1962, and is the Chief Executive Officer, Senior Portfolio Manager and founder of The Pacific Financial Group, Inc. His academic studies, valuable expertise in asset and liability management, and his investment experience with large national firms contributed to his analytical capabilities and the formation of The Pacific Financial Group, Inc. in 1984. Jim’s affinity for science and math led him to the ground breaking work of Harry Markowitz in Modern Portfolio Theory, Nobel Prize winning economist William Sharpe and studies on Asset Allocation Modeling. He crafted methodologies for investment decision making based on mathematical models that could predictably create positive performance over time. Further, Jim wanted to create something he could be proud of that had intrinsic value. He wanted to be able to choose who he worked with and who he invested for and wanted to create an environment of staff development through endurance training and what sometimes feels like insurmountable challenge. Ultimately, Jim wanted to create an agile boutique investment firm that centered on developing people and giving them opportunities to flourish.
